I'm so there

I finally flew out yesterday and will start tomorrow morning at my new job.

Arriving here was really easy. There was a lock box with the temporary apartment key in it and I just punched in a three digit code and walked in. The place is well appointed and the housing company put a nice California Cabernet Savignon with a hand-written welcome and enough groceries to get me through the evening and the next morning. Angel hair pasta and red sauce, bagels and cream cheese as well as some waters, milk, OJ, and a couple sodas. Classy.

My first day living in the desert was 55 degrees and raining. The tallest mountain to the west is actually snow capped, but I expect that will burn off by tomorrow. Today was 65 and sunny. See the snowcap below. More of a dusting.

I took it easy today and just drove around loking at trains

Planes

and cranes

OK, that's a shovel, but that doesn't rhyme with train and plane. I wish driving this thing was the job I came here to  do. It's a proven fact that 90 percent of all men would leave their current jobs with a 30 percent pay cut to operate any earth moving equipment.

I went out to see if I could find Burt Rutan's working place. I did, it's about 20 miles from here. Burt is the most important person alive today.

This is a cool place and I am thrilled to be here.
