Saturday mornings
Once we settled in, life is really not that different here. We got up, made breakfast and watched The Soup on E!. We got cleaned up and went house hunting for new homes. We liked this one.

We were looking at model homes, but we did go look at one that's actually for sale.

Video here.
I absolutely despise that white tile on the counters. That's a California thing. It makes me think of an autopsy and I imagine blood smears and organs on them. But they have other options. I just don't get that tile. It would be a nightmare to clean and it looks like hell.
I want to buy soon. We can get out of this lease fairly reasonably. We both like it here, the market is in our favor, and we really want our own space. The problem with new homes is that the view from the bedrooms is this:

Pretty bleak. But soon enough there will be a row of two story homes peering down on you. This place is weird.

Developments like that are my nightmare. A house requires three things as far as I'm concerned: a wrap-around porch, stairs to a second level indoors, and trees of a diameter greater than a few inches on the surrounding property. It's an added plus if the house was built in the 1800's.

I can't agree more, but that house doesn't exist in the state of California for less than $1,000,000. My dream is to live south of Rochester, near Letchworth, and own a piece of woods with a shale stream running through it. Sometimes you get where you're headed by going somewhere completely opposite.
