Utica

Now famous thanks to The Office. Representing one of my home towns. Kelly's brother did have an awesome bachelor party in downtown Utica. That party doubled the amount of time I'd spent in downtown Utica including the two years I went to college three miles away at SUNYIT.

My experience with Upstate NY cities was not great though. I only lived within city limits of Buffalo and Rochester for 19 months of my life, and during that time I had a car stolen and gutted, and the car I sold off my immature savings bonds to buy after the first car was stolen, got broken into and the radio stolen out of it.

So, If I'm a representative sample, if you live in Buffalo or Rochester, you will be a victim of a felony every 9 1/2 months. That was enough to turn me off of cities for good. Helping that decision was the fact that city police had no interest in finding out who did either crime.

Here, my truck has to be parked outside at night. I will get a photo of my anti-theft device later today.

It's later, here's my Improvised Anti-theft Device (IAD):

During work, I leave my windows open, but overnight, I lock things up really well. As the old Arab proverb goes, "Trust in Allah, but tie up your camel."

And for those who like gratuitous cat cuteness The Peanut:

I usually leave my car doors unlocked so that if someone decides to break into it, they don't need to break the windows, which are, basically, the most valuable thing about the car.

You're forgetting to mention that the car thieves had to gas up immediately after stealing your car.

Today is the "every other" Friday that I get off of work. I could get used to this schedule.

Yeah, the Toyota was on fumes when they stole it. I will never park overnight in an Upstate New York city again, unless they do something about crime. They won't.
