Care for a swim?

In case you haven't seen anything really creepy since Halloween: Abandoned swimming pools.

Abandoned things have always fascinated me.

The pools are almost as cool as the abandoned amusement park.  If you press the little nubbin at the bottom of the linked page on the right, you'll go to two more pages. This is cool too.

These are all awesome. Where'd you find these links?

I love abandoned things where nature is taking over. It's oddly organic, in a backwards kind of way.

I hope to go to Chernobyl someday, although I'm going to wait about another 20 years or so.

About two miles from where I live is a brick house with a vintage 1960 above ground rectangular swimming pool in the backyard. Until they ruined it recently by clearing it out, the pool had a 15 foot tall sumac tree growing in it. It was one of the funnier sights to see on my way to work.

Most cool things I find on the web are from reddit or digg, both linked to on my "What Chuck Reads" section on my sidebar.

98% of stuff that ends up there is articles bashing:

Cheney, Clinton, Bush, RIAA, Vista, Web Neutrality

    or supporting:

Ron Paul, Kusinich, Ubanatu, Bit Torrent, or Apple

The other 2% is random interesting stuff like the swimming pools.

I am fascinated by abandoned houses. They seem sad, yet hopeful at the same time. I enjoy looking at them and imagining all the love and family memories that went on inside before someone left them. I really love the fact that JJ and Steve rescued an abandoned house. I wish we had the talent to do that!

Adrienne, those are VERY cool. It is a shame they tore that down.

I've always liked junk yards and abandoned places for all the same reasons, Chaley. And I am also envious of their vision and ambition to take on that house and make what they did of it. I'll never be able to do that.
