Winter solstice
What you didn't do today was drive to the beach and go barefoot.

I think I've said before that I have no respect for anyone who can afford to live in Malibu and doesn't.

While we were here, we totally ignored a call from the"Mom and Dad" but spoken from Chaley who was supposedly doing the family Christmas Eve.

It was about 68 degrees and lovely there.

It reminded me of Okinawa, where I spent some time as a teenager. There were islands with caverns and holes that I could swim through. I have some good memories there.

My feet.

I really love living in California. I love that we are only and hour and a half from the Pacific. It's so beautiful. I can't imagine being out here with anyone else.

I think we have one of those blogs that people only read from work, it's not actually entertaining enough to check out on their own time. I know I break all the blog rules by posting the most interesting content on the weekends, but that's the only time we have the time to do anything interesting.
Yesterday was fun and today's going to be fun too. I can't imagine exploring California with anyone else either, Kelly. We're fun.

It's the holiday season I think. I've noticed all the blog comments trailing off. Plus you are fighting all the online shopping people are doing. I'm also barely getting any e-mail these days.

And Jeffrey, you will continue to get no emails until the baby's name is disclosed. We're all boycotting you until that time. And pictures are still needed!

Check your mailbox today. I'm not in control of the post office, but you might get something you like...just don't tell anyone what you know unless they also know...

Malibu looks beautiful. Some of us are checking in with you, but holding back tears missing you at various Christmas events too. I called from Mom & Dad's with our 'Christmas Eve.' We had Grandma's today. Both places you were thought of and really missed. I think it is much easier being the people away experiencing new things, than those left behind. Can't wait to see you next month!

I agree that it is probably easier being the ones away, especially this soon after leaving home, having new thing to do and not having anything that really makes us think of home, since things are SOOO different here.
We really do miss everyone desperately and tomorrow night will be really difficult.

I keep thinking that this is 1000x better than your being at sea somewhere with a bunch of other guys at Christmas, or laying flat in a hospital bed with celulitis as in years past. There you are with Kelly (and Shoob) and infinite abilities to make Christmas memorable, wherever you are. Our first Christmas away from home, Chaley was an infant and we were both so sick we had to take turns taking care of her. But that was also the year the cats found a mouse in the tree and tipped it over, ornaments and all. And even now we remember it with fondness. Though I am sure we were lonesome, we weren't lonely. And there IS a difference! Merry Christmas!
