This site is for our friends and family to keep in touch with us while we move from Central New York State to Southern California. No last names, no company names, no politics. When
google finds us, I hope it doesn't stay long.

Excellent photos of the scenery! You should publish them! I'll bet a magazine would pay you some money for them. I am jealous that you are so close to something so awe inspiring. Thanks for sharing with us! Reply to this

Kelly got me an awesome bending mini tripod for my camera. It can wrap around stuff and hang on to fences and railings or stand on anything flat. That, combined with playing with the long exposures has really improved my low-light photos, but I have a lot of experimanting to do.
It's one of the things I'm excited to have the annual Disneyland passes for, because there are so many interesting things to photograph after dark there. I also want to play around in the dark at the beach and in the desert. Reply to this

The thing is though, that today my boss got an email with a link to a slide show of the Thousand Islands, and no one here believed they are in the States. They were all amazed by the castles and mansions and just the idea of 1000 islands and that people can have their own island. I said that other than millionare's row, the rest of the 1000 islands are inhabited by regular schmoes like us.
Today's discussion didn't even get to the Finger Lakes, Watkin's Glen, the Catskills, the Adirondacks, or any of that.
NY has it's awe-inspiring places too!!! It's just hat there are also a lot of Henriettas and Liverpools too. Reply to this

It's all relative. Lancaster is a Henrietta to most Los Angelinos. As we drove into the Los Angeles basin yesterday and saw and smelled the smog, Anaheim and Rancho Cucamonga seemed like Henriettas. Just Henriettas with towering palms, snow-capped mountains, flowers in January, and themeparks.
There are plenty of reasons to run down the AV, and plenty of people do here, but it's like anywhere you live with astonishing natural wonders and startling defects. Anywhere but Northern Texas, which is just boring. Reply to this

Is anyone else extremely jealous that they just trot off to D.L. for an evening?
