29 Houses

Our Realtor emailed us a bunch of house listings, and I found some on my own. We looked through them and are going to try to see 29 of them this weekend. It's hard to see that many houses, but the market is so saturated that we have to see as many as possible.

House prices have dropped to within 20 percent of the price of houses we were looking at in Syracuse before we left. And we were looking at 3 bedroom houses that were all at least 20 - 50 years old. Here we're looking at 4 and 5 bedroom houses with three car garages, all of which were built in the 1990s or later.

Kelly did a drive-by of some houses to see if she could thin the herd, but nothing had obvious flaws from the outside.

But we've seen some messed up places. Because of predatory lending practices, so many people became home owners who never should have and they've trashed two year old houses completely. It's sad, in some cases. But I don't feel sorry for most of the buyers or the lenders, they all were banking on the prices to continue rising forever. I hope we don't end up losing money too, but at least we know that whatever we lose, it will be $100K less than most people who bought these houses last year will lose.
