Seeing green

Northern California is like a whole other country. We weren't prepared to see so much green. It was green, like May in Troutburg green.

We got on the road at about 3:30 PM Friday, no wait we had to finish up taxes at H&R Block, who took nearly a week to do taxes, so we didn't really get on the road till, no wait we had to get some Burger King for Kelly  (Richie, we found a BK, like, a mile from our place, BTW), so we finally got on the road at 5:20.

It took about five hours to get to Livermore, which was most of the way to where we were going, and we spent the night there.

The next morning, we went just across the Golden Gate Bridge to meet Jeffrey, Heather, and Little Baby Somethin' Somethin' (LBSS).

The Golden Gate is even more majestic than I remember. Did I mention that it's GREEN there too? The AV is just shades of khaki right now, like the men's department in Macy's.

We met at the bridge and went down to Sausalito. which is a picturesque former fishing village that now accommodates understated, yet massively expensive bay-front homes. We had a fantastic breakfast at Fred's, a local diner with great wood tables and communal dining, with other parties sharing table space with you. In a place with interesting and friendly people, that's a plus. Everything was outstanding except the hash browns, which were not worth the starch intake.

That's Jeffrey and LBSS. Heather and Jeffrey are great parents and I loved being around LBSS and seeing Jeffrey and Heather as parents. Especially to be able to do that before Adrienne did.

LBSS came into the world at a home birth, a concept that was barely known to us before they did it, which is one of the nice things about having friends that are not exactly like you, because you get to learn things from them.

More on our weekend tomorrow.
