She wasn't kidding

I picked up the keys at 3:00. Kelly had to work really late, so I had to go to the house first. We obviously wanted to enter the first time as owners together, but whatever.

I bought some yard equipment then got there and mowed the yard. It really needed it. We figure that the owner canceled the gardener as soon as he figured out we were for real.

I bought a rotary mower because I have so little grass and because I like the idea of not having to use gas (I filled up both vehicles today and spent over $100). I'm going to have to mow like every other day, though, because it was REALLY hard with the grass so long.

I bought some rakes and a hoe too.

Tonight was the first time we have been in the house at night, so it was nice to see how well lit the place is. I'm a lighting freak and absolutely despise being in places with lighting that's too bright. Only one of the lights, the one on the overhead fan in the kitchen, is too bright. Even the foyer light and the one above the dining room table are comfortable. The recessed lighting in the ceiling is really nice too, but I bet changing those bulbs sucks.

I put some food in the bird feeder, put some sugar water in the humming bird feeder, and left some water out for the cat we're convinced was Liz's and John kicked it out after she passed. We only have two pieces of evidence to support this theory, one is that there are two dishes out in the back that look like they were for water and food. The other is that mystery cat is the exact color of the carpet and the little we know about Liz suggests she would have paid attention to such things.

Kelly's body language  in early February

Kelly tonight:

Thanks everyone for all the well wishes and prayers, now make some airline reservations and come stay with us. I'm not kidding, we' are excellent hosts and live in a great area to use as a base camp to see Southern California.

We have a really busy week ahead, which will include having the I Love the '90s wallpaper from hell removed and the walls repainted;, buying new washer, drier, and refrigerator; moving; and me trying to figure out how to work the automatic sprinkler system (there's like 20 dials!).

Plus Kelly just started a new job and I'm working on the most important project we've had in years at my job.
