Enough with the house already!

I know, I know, but it's all that's going on besides work and believe me, work is even less interesting.

So we now have a new fridge

A new washer and drier set

Don't they look like some benevolent alien with big eyes and really short legs? They are very high efficiency, so we won't use much desert water or gas. Saving our water consumption for the garden. My showers have also gotten shorter due to the stand up shower.

A new stove, thanks to Scott and Janet (our Realtor/friends). Really, not kidding, a new stove. I think they actually like us.

The stove was such a nice gift because the place came with a perfectly functional, but gross, stove. So we probably would have lived with the old one for a few years, hating it all the while, but being too frugal to justify getting a new one. This one matches all the other appliances and is much nicer (and cleaner) than the old one. Scott buys in these in quantity for the apartments he manages, so I doubt it put him out as much money as it would for you or me, but it is still a fantastic gesture and well above anything they needed to do. Scott also bought and installed a new controller for my sprinkler system, though there are still several issues with it. More on that this weekend.

We also got a new grill, thanks to Kelly's Dad, who gave me a gift card that more than covered the grill I wanted. They also gave me a Lowes card, which went for some miscellaneous things and also toward the fridge and washer set.

Sears said it had free assembly, but I would have had to wait like a week or two to have someone do it because, "gosh, I don't even think we HAVE people who do THAT!" So I put it together in the garage myself.

Let me tell you, Kenmore has some useless technical writers. Seriously, Kenmore, you buttholes, how about a little detail in your crappy 1995-era line drawings or, I don't know, some notes like "be sure to put the plate on such that the holes (that we don't show on the drawing) are on the top when you install it, because you'll need them there in 14 steps and will have to disassemble everything you do from now until then to switch it around if you don't."

But I was determined to get the sumbitch together and grill myself an ever loving steak!!!

Which I did.

Then I played with the sprinkler system. I was going to have a cool video there, but YouTube is down. Man, I want my money back from those guys. Oh, wait, that's free. But still.

My parents get here tomorrow!!! They're going to crap themselves when they see how nice this place is, and not just because they're old.

Knowing how much the two of you like to cook, the gift of the stove is even more meaningful. I'm so glad you have developed such a great friendship with them! They have really taken you in their fold!

WOO to your front-loading high-efficiency washer. I love mine and am always telling everyone else to get one. Just in general, it's nice to have *your own* washer and dryer and refrigerator and stove and etc. The ones that come with rentals aren't as much fun.

And OMG I am jealous of that grill. I am way too cheap to buy a new one, so I'm currently using these two elderly "fixed up" ones. Not nearly so slick as that one you guys have.

We've gotten much use out of the grill so far and it's been great. It's on sale at Sears for cheap.
