Juno and Superbad

We watched movies for the first time in months this past weekend. After dinner at Scott and Janet's last Friday, we borrowed their copy of Juno.

If you haven't seen the movie, you should. It's very cute and very funny. Like a good book, you don't want the movie to end because you'll kind of miss having the characters in your life. Ellen Page is adorable and I'll watch anything she's in.

That said, this site, which has a few swears in it, pretty accurately describes the movie's lack of subtlety in its character development and close adherence to independent movie conventions.

One of the surprises of the movie was that I fully expected to learn to really dislike Jennifer Gardner's character, but I gained a lot of empathy and respect for her.

Saturday night we watched Superbad.

Like Knocked Up and The 40 Year Old Virgin, it was a really sweet movie hidden inside a juvenile comedy. All three movies were pleasant surprises, even though I had been warned before seeing all three that they are pleasant surprises.

I haven't seen any of them yet, but I'm dying to see Juno. I heard it was really cute.

Being a mom and all though, I'm addicted to Enchanted.

Maybe that has less to do with being a mom and more to do with being a total sap.

I can't type the word "though" without *always* putting a "t" at the end of it and having to back-space it out.

I actually saw a move in a movie theatre this weekend. I saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I actually never had any intention of seeing it, but it was the only movie on at the time I had available. It was surprisingly quite good. Very funny and good characters. Yeah, it too is a pleasant surprise.

I liked both these films. And Enchanted. And I want to see Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Tammy and I did a double-feature the other weekend where we saw Stop-Loss (which I would NOT recommend) and Leatherheads (which I would recommend--excellent, excellent dialog).
