Any excuse to go to Disneyland
I'm trying to figure out all the things I want to do while JJ and Jesse are here in two weeks.
They fly in on Saturday the 8th of June, into Burbank. So I pick them up in the early afternoon and they'll be beat, so I figure that day, we'll just come here, maybe drive a little around Palmdale and the AV to show them what it looks like here, then grill something, and have some margaritas in the back yard.
I've decided to rent a car that's more fuel efficient than my truck, because Kelly is still having to drive to Panorama City until mid-June for training at work, so we can't just trade vehicles. The cost of a rental for Sunday to Friday is $170, which is three tanks of gas in the truck. So if we save enough gas to have saved three tanks, we will break even. I'm going to try to get a hybrid, which will get about three times better mileage then Tuckbo, and I really want to do a lot of driving. One way just to Disneyland is one tank of gas in the truck, so I think we'll see real savings with a rental.
So Sunday we will probably just go up to Mountain High and look at snow.
As for Monday and Tuesday, I'm not certain yet. I really want to do some completely new things with them. It's been months since I've been able to explore California, so I'm really looking forward to it. I think we may want to head up to Sequoia National Park.
I think we'll probably do the Tehachapi loop on the way up to Sequoia. I'm totally ready to have a Ruben at the German bakery and to stock up on some sauerkraut.
Then on Tuesday, on the way back, we'll drive to the coast and go down Highway 1.
One of the best things about having JJ and Jesse come here is to get to go to Disneyland with Jesse or his first Disney experience ever.
I made reservations at the Fairfield Inn Anaheim Disneyland for us, so all four of us can spend the night right across the street from the main gates to the two parks. The day will go something like this: JJ, Jesse, and I will get up ridiculously early on Wednesday the 11th of June and get to the parking lot at Disneyland by 7:30. Then we'll be in line for the 8:00 opening of Disneyland.
You can often get on more rides in the first two hours than you can the entire rest of the day due to the short lines.
We'll do rides, have a nice lunch in Port Orleans, then check into the hotel, maybe nap and get ready for the evening. Kelly will show up after work and have dinner with us, then we close the Magic Kingdom down at 9:00.
Thursday, we'll go to California Adventure in the morning, then probably wander back over to Disneyland later, unless Jesse really likes Adventure. With the weather being nice, we may well really like it there.
Friday, we'll probably sleep in and then go up to the Vasquez rocks, then we're having Scott and Janet over for some steaks.

We can't wait to hear Jesse's version of the vacation! We wish we were going to see you too!!

You must really want to both explore California and Sequoia National Park.

Yeah, I moved that paragraph at one point and left it where it was as well. More recent versions are fixed. I thought I got to it before anyone read. Again, if you read from the email notification, you'll likely see an older version of the page. Ier if there's a way to change that?

FYI...I don't get the emails and I saw the two paragraph version yesterday.

Chuck,
Sounds like you have covered everything. You'll have the best time, all of you. Jesse & JJ will surely remember their California experience forever. You and Kelly are great hosts! And there is just so much to see and do. Enjoy! Love, Maw

Come on by. We now have a hammock installed on the terrace, so we sort of have a guest bedroom again (hope you don't mind if it rains a little though).

I would so totally sleep on that hammock

I know, I sound like a high-maintenance guest alredy. Really, if you don't want to pick us up until the 8th, we'll find a comfortable airport chair.
I AM SO EXCITED!!!!

Can you do that? That would be great.

It's too bad you don't know anyone with annual passes that would love to show you around.
