Not from nothing, man but...
...this is the worst musical ever, if I can believe my ears. I'm not known for liking musicals in the first place, but wow! This show over achieves in being horrid.

I hope no one I know worked on this turd. Xanadu did a segment of whatever CBS calls their morning talk "news" show. The girl singing the Olivia Newton John parts was flat out frigging off key and incapable of pronouncing a single word. I thought they were maybe a high school troop, but then remembered that all of my niece Devon's school productions sounded WAY better than this.
At first I cut them some slack for having to perform live, then realized that THAT's WHAT THEY DO.
Is that part of the show? I know it's supposed to be campy and over the top, but is it supposed to sound bad too?
And this show is nominated for a Best Musical Tony. Does it just have no competition this year?
Seriously, listen for yourself. I would shoot myself before enduring an hour and a half of this. Not because of the songs themselves, because of how badly they're sung.
I just don't get it.

For someone proclaiming not to like musicals you
1) Love Disney anything. They do a lot of musicals. A lot. Really.
2) You talk, on average, more about musicals than many straight non-theatre going men.
Anyway, you do know at least one person who worked on Xanadu, but he doesn't care anything about it or any of the shows he works on, so no worries there. And it's not me (it's Marc from my wedding).
I didn't see the stage show or the tv bit, but those segments often sound like crap. You have a bunch of people usually shoe-horned into a TV studio that is about the size of a large hotel room and they usually get one chance to none to restage and run through the number. It largely depends on the relative TV experience of the creative staff of the show. The less TV savvy they are, the worse the end result of the segment will be. Some have the foresight to figure out things like sound monitors before hand, but many don't. And the TV sound folks tend to be mystified by how live theatrical sound is done (the show's stagehands aren't allowed to operate a TV show's segment due to union restrictions).
Add to this that the CBS morning show is probably the least well-produced morning show in America (and I'm counting local channels in this equation).
I'm not totally surprised by the nomination given that there just isn't much else out there this season. Plus there's some affection for the creators and cast amongst the theatre community (they're odd ducks, but talented and very funny folks). Oddly, most of the big shows this year have been new plays. This happens about once every ten years or so. But this year happens to be a very off year for new musicals. The musical revivals on the other hand have been big hits, critically and financially.
Hey, if you really wanted to watch something horrible, you could watch that MTV show about recasting Legally Blonde. It just makes my skin crawl. I can get through about 5 minutes before I want kill myself. I feel kind of bad for the girls on the show, but then I realize that they are such willing and vacuous rubes that my sympathy is short-lived. They are so totally asking for whatever they get.

I love Disney theme parks and their pre-1990s cartoons, but I'm not too much of a fan of Miley Cyrus and High School Musical and that brothers group and all that. Much of contemporary Disney productions seem cheap.
I probably do spend too much time complaining about musicals.

I don’t know whether this is the right place for asking. But, I am still doing it.We have a bilingual website created in MOSS. It is a corporate website. We have 2 logos one in French and the other in English. How can we get the logos to swap to it respective language when we move from English to French website and vice-versa. Similarly, how can I change the text of “Print Friendly” to French? I hope my question is clear. Any help will be of great help.
