107 reasons it's too hot

Everything on the Internet is a list, but I don't really have 107 reasons.

1. It was 107 friggin degrees out.

Actually that was enough for that list.

Our yard was only 102, and was down to 97 by the time I got home at 6:00, but still. At work, the truck said it was 111 when I got in it at lunch time, but it backed off to 107 once I started moving. The worst part is that it's actually humid too. It's like 30%, but you can feel it a little.

I found some caterpillars on my tomatoes and peppers the other day. I found them early enough on the two tomato plants on the ground, so they didn't sustain any noticeable damage, but the one in the pot got chewed up pretty good. The peppers were okay too.

On the positive side, the snail bait has been working. I find an empty shell occasionally, but that's it.

I did sneak onto my neighbor's yard and put some snail bait in their tangle of overgrown shrubs because I think that's become the new orgy spot or them. The neighbors on the west side suck a little. I have taken to mowing the piece of their front yard that we share because they only do it the day before they have a party. And they only have a party once a month. But other than the once-a-month party, we never see them, so they're perfect neighbors in that way.

The neighbor on the other side keeps calling me John, but I forgive him because he gave me an apple tree. I planted it in front, in a spot that I took some lilies out of. The tree didn't want to be straight and I was really planning to get a stake to prop it up, but the neighbor beat me to it while we were out. I get the feeling that he's the type who is still talking about what a moron I am. Sometimes they watch westerns from their back yard; though I've never seen the tv, I can hear the audio like the horses and cowboys were in our yard.

I believe the heat may have fried your neighbor's brains. Get out, get out now!

I had the most *perfect* night's sleep last night. I slept in Devon's room because my bed was crowded & she had an amazing, cool breeze coming through the windows. It was just cool enough to need a light comforter but warm enough to love the breeze on your face.

I'm *SO* glad it isn't even close to 107 here. It is Kendall Carnival weekend after all and it is never fun to hang around the fire grounds in the heat.

Every night is in the 70s by 8:00 PM and cooler by morning, so the heat is only a daytime problem.

The heat wave broke beween 6:10 and 6:20 for reals last night. The wind came up and it was suddenly cool. There is a thin cloud cover and the day to day is 90 and loverly. Too bad I have to work on an off Friday, I might have taken Piddy Ting out for a ride.
